Business owners really do not have the time to learn all of the ins and outs of listing merchandise on eBay or elsewhere on the internet (although they should take the time). Hiring a Trading Assistant full time could be a good move.

In these days of phishing schemes and email hoaxes I became a bit skeptical upon reading this information in my inbox. But after following the links back to the law firm Garden City Group, Inc. and reading the notice it seemed legitimate…
In reality becoming a Trading Assistant is much more complicated than most articles you find on the Internet will indicate. eBay itself tries to make it sound easy, yet they protect themselves with an agreement which a Harvard Law professor would have a hard time deciphering.
I asked Cliff to explain Amazon FBA to our readers here at the Trading Assistant Journal because we are always aware of the desire to look outside of eBay and learn about eBay competition. Naturally Amazon is one of the first places eBay sellers think about when considering a switch.

Guest Blogger John Lawson of 3rdPO.com and colderICE comments in a play by play style on today’s eBay Town Hall… Griff never had it so good!
Are you offering the buyer what they want? Offering what the buyers want is the only way to succeeed on eBay or in any merchandising pursuit. Lets be reasonable…
I thought we would present a list of all of the eBay purchases over the years in one place, (at least all we could find) just to give everyone a better idea of how big and what kind of global reach eBay really has.
eBay has made so many changes of late, it is hard to keep up with it all. We all know the hot issues of Feedback, DSR’s and Best Match but what about the fundamental changes eBay has made to the look and feel of the site?
How can it be a good buyer experience when a new buyer stumbles into the “community” link and finds the “discussion forums” to ask a question that they could not get information about in the “help” section, only to encounter a “Feedie” or “Tool” or “Troll” who simply wants to play games with their question?
Just finished a live call with John Lawson of 3rdPO.com (colderICE). Listen in to hear what we all had to say about the most recent changes at eBay! If feedback is used as a weapon against a writer who simply offered an opinion about the situation currently occurring on the eBay discussion forums, then how will a normal eBay member without this kind of pulpit expect fair treatment.
In the video, terms like “Feedies”, “Cheerleaders” and “Tools” are used to describe members who use the forum rules on eBay discussion boards to remove members they do not happen to like or agree with.
Free Shipping is Never Free, if sellers are supposed to offer Free shipping, why does eBay not offer free listing? It costs much more to deliver and item than it does to display that same item on a web page.
With this additional announcement, eBay is ringing the bell that tolls a change in the way consumers will search the site. This new or revamped search engine (can you say Best Match on steroids?) will offer fixed price listings side by side with auction listings (tests leaked on this system last February). Will this new search “disadvantage” auctions so much that they become irrelevant and eventually through market pressure simply cease to exist?
“Follow the money”, “You are on the right track”, “Look at the books” was a mantra repeated throughout the conversation late into the night. Many other topics were covered and bonafides were revealed but details could not be. The IMA Source sounded like “Deep Throat”.
Glad to see you actually see things the way the rest of the world does in reference to the word “neutral”. I mean, where would Switzerland have been during WWII if Neutrals were counted as negatives?
No Insertion Fee on Your First 4 Vehicles…eBay Motors is eliminating Insertion Fees on the first four vehicles you list in a 12 month period. Starting with the fifth vehicle, the fee is $20 (50% less than it was under the old plan). And after 12 months, you go back to “first four” pricing.
First it was Tiffany’s losing the court battle in New York…
Now L’Oreal has taken their lumps in Belgium… The case is not over however as eBay must fight this charge in three more countries…
Glad I am doing my part to pay the legal bills!
It is nice to think that a company such as Coca Cola may have chosen to follow me on Twitter because they think I may have an influence, or my blog articles have inspired them, or for some other fantastic reason… But it could be just because my name was on some other Twitter users list.
After recent announcements of a change in the payment structure for eBay affiliates and reports of discrepancies in reporting by the Partner Network to its affiliates, it appears the initial switch away from Commission Junction may not be the best move for eBay or its sellers.
Online Auction.com CEO Chris Fain, during a live Internet Radio show presented by ECMRN (e-commerce Marketing Radio Network) , detailed a plan to charge buyers $8.00 a month subscription for access to buy from the auction venue in the future.
The following statement “a small percentage of PayPal customers are effected” by this impending IRS & Online sales tax issue, says little for PayPal or eBay as a route to business success . I mean… if the use of PayPal as a business solution to process payments from online sales, is a healthy concern, wouldnt more than a “small percentage” of PayPal users be effected by this IRS fact finding mission?
According to our recent Trading Assistant Journal/Polldaddy.com Poll, …with over 10% of the IMA membership responding, we can predict that the IMA has lost almost 50% of its membership to PeSA. With over 89% of the membership (who responded to our poll) leaving altogether… And then there were 2… Only 2 of the respondents stated they […]
Producing video today is much easier and faster than ever before. The only thing slowing most marketers down is creativity. I am not saying everyone should sell blenders and create videos of them pulverizing inanimate objects into dust. Yet I am suggesting it is this type of creative and somewhat irreverent thinking which makes good marketers. Video is just the tool, creativity is the gift.
eBCalc is now a multi-channel fee calculator with more functionality than ever before. Not only will eBCalc return results for eBay’s many marketplaces and fee structures but it will now also help with fee calculation for many other marketplaces such as Amazon.com, Overstock.com and Etsy
eBay… Yes EBAY listened to sellers… I know this is a shock, just breathe deep – Take a moment to comprehend the full meaning of the statement above… Everyone knows how much and how fervent our opposition was to the “new links policy” from eBay, announced last May. Here are a few of our articles […]
