Trading Assistant Journal, Skip McGrath, & iBusinessLogic – Solutions Providers in the Renewed ConsignmentPal Directory

ConsignmentPal - The little big directory for eBay consignment sellers is growing fast!

Regular readers here will be aware that I have helped Linda Miller and her ConsignmentPal directory with the redesign and reinvigoration of this amazing directory. And I am sure glad I did...

ConsignmentPal has not only become the best place to list your consignment or Trading Assistant business (even better than the Trading Assistant Directory, in my opinion) but is now a great place to find real honest to goodness solutions providers, consultants, designers, web developers, and eBay gurus like Skip McGrath (Not an affiliate link).

The press release below is a good indication of the forward thinking and bright outlook Linda Miller brings to the industry with ConsignmentPal (Not an affiliate link). Providing a free directory for all of the eBay consignment, resale and eCommerce marketplace is a very laudable achievement and I think everyone attending eBay Live 2008 should stop by the booth and shake Linda's hand, thank her for all of her hard work and sign up for ConsignmentPal. Tell her Scott Pooler sent you... if you don't happen to catch me manning the booth myself (I think Linda wants me to fill in during the best speeches...huh, not likely! LOL)

See You at eBay LIVE!

eBay & Beyond Basics to Business Internet Radio – You Tube Video Promotion

My friends Dave & Sparky at eBay & Beyond apparently have taken my suggestions & advice to heart and put thoughts into action...

While doing my Guest Host spot during a recent eBay & Beyond Basics to Business live Internet talk radio show, I had extolled the virtues of using Video Sharing social media sites like You Tube and Flickr video to promote businesses, products and services. This is an example of just how it can be done and the reason to do it...

Yesterday the first eBay & Beyond Basics to Business promotional video was launched on You Tube.

eBayand Beyond You Tube Video

Certainly I would help my friends and co-workers as much as possbile and a video like this just simply makes it very easy for me to do just that. Because they took the time to create the video and upload it to You Tube, I in turn can place the same video in my website/blog.

This is the basis for "viral" marketing and is the very reason why sites like You Tube are so popular. When viewers of a video on You Tube or Flickr or any other video site can freely place your promotion into another website... well it is all good for you!

Take a moment and think about the possibilities...

Go out and create your own video, just as Dave White and Sparky Felix have done, it does not need to be a Steven Spielburg production, it simply needs to share your message...

Great Job eBay & Beyond! I am really impressed by all of your hard work, for a couple of guys who say they have no real technical background, you both seem to have talents beyond your claims...

See You every Saturday on The Radio!

eBay Ink – New Blog or Same ole eBay? Usher Lieberman Thanks for Trying!

After posting my most recent article about eBay North American GM Stephanie Tilenius and her answers to my Digital Download questions at Catalyst 2008...

I wanted to be sure I was not too harsh and had presented the case from a sellers perspective fairly.  I am not an eBay basher and would prefer to work towards positive change if change is needed.  Change is not always needed, but change usually comes in any case. In an effort to confirm my thoughts as they were presented in my previous post, I went surfing the web looking for blog posts and news articles... Real Estate eBay Store Created by DesignLogic for Watson Realty

eBay Stores are well known in the world of Internet commerce.  Many believe the inexpensive eBay feature known as an eBay Store is the key to drawing traffic to any eCommerce website. The positive effect of a well designed and stocked eBay stores website is well documented.

Selling Real Estate on eBay has also been proven successful and is effective as a lead  and sales generation tool.  Therefore it seems quite interesting, almost unbelievable, that these two powerful eBay marketing tactics have yet to be joined with the creation of a well designed eBay Store for Real Estate.  Until Now...

jchalkley,Realtor-Mock-R.jpg

Jason Chalkley, a Realtor with Watson Realty Corp, has commissioned an eBay Store crafted by: DesignLogic

The unique design of this eBay Stores real estate site is expected to create an influx of interest for the Realtor's Ormond Beach and Daytona Beach real estate listings.  Each property listed on eBay will gain worldwide exposure, not only within eBay but also through increased exposure to worldwide search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN.  "This brings a whole new dimension of value to my advertising budget," said Jason Chalkley.

The image above is a "mock up" of the soon-to-be installed Jason Chalkley/Watson Real Estate eBay Store.  When the actual store is installed it will feature a cross advertising design powered by a unique Frooition software and control panel.  "Each real estate listing will interactively display similar listings from within the brokers store and it will do so on every listing through the eBay store website.  This is a crucial feature not available through any other design package to our knowledge," according to Scott Pooler (me) of iBusinessLogic & AllBusinessAuctions.com. "No matter how a visitor enters the site, they will view more than one property listing on a page. The design will encourage all visitors to surf all of the listings the realtor has available rather than simply click back to eBay or the search engine they came from when they are finished looking at the landing page." This feature is dynamically updated via the eBay API and does not need to be maintained. Simply launching new or additional listings will populate the cross selling engine that is a DesignLogic store powered by Frooition.

Jason Chalkley is a visionary when it comes to advertising real estate for his clients. He has invested in this custom designed eBay store with the express intention to draw new leads from the worldwide exposure eBay can provide.  "With the weak dollar and strong Euro, I hope to draw some European investors to my beautiful Florida beach properties through eBay," Jason Chalkley said. "Local Florida buyers will find our properties in the eBay store just as easily as foreign investors, so I see it as a win-win situation for my listings."

After the new store is installed Jason does not plan to stop with this initial phase of his real estate Internet marketing plan. Jason will call upon All Business Auctions to help him with inserting video tours of his listings as an added feature.  Jason has also started his first real estate WordPress blog with our help.  He plans on expanding his eBay listings with local area guides through digital download and possibly other real estate related merchandise in the future.

eBay & Beyond radio show starts soon… Why not listen in?

I originally reported this over on our AllBusinessAuctions.com/blog but it bears repeating here. If you would like to hear what I sound like or if you would like to call in and ask a question, now is your chance. Our new gig as a co-host of the popular no-nonsense style eBay & Beyond radio show starts soon, so why not listen in?

Dave White of the widely listened to Internet Radio show "eBay & Beyond: Basics to Business" will be firing up the engineers console at his radio show soon. This is my debut as an Internet Radio Show Co-Host! Scott Pooler Radio Co-Host

So give a listen - the show starts soon - just follow the link below and be sure to call in with any questions. The show is replayed on a continuous loop all week, so if you miss the "Live" version you can always join in at a later date. Dave tells me we are also on iTunes. Just look for "eBay & Beyond Basics to Business" in the iTunes Store under podcasts.

Internet Auction News Radio

The Title of the show is eBay & Beyond: Basics to Business. The show's listeners want to learn more about outside sources of revenue, exposure and income which go beyond just eBay sales. I think Dave wants my perspective added to the show because I have sought out the "Beyond" end of the spectrum when it comes to eBay and eCommerce. Frankly I am glad to help and believe that more eBay sellers should look outside the big box that is eBay into the rest of the Internet world. There are so many opportunities and interesting ideas available to online retailers. I sometimes forget how myopic the eBay world can be. Once you are in the eBay universe you sometimes forget there is a whole other solar system out there.

Neither Dave White nor I would ever say that abandoning eBay would be a wise business decision. There are still too many advantages to having an eBay channel set up for your business. Fee hikes, feedback changes and DSR levels requirements do not outweigh the real measureable exposure gained via eBay sales. If a company were to simply look at eBay sales as an advertising budget decision, they would be looking at the lost cost per sale advertising campaign in the world.

But I digress. This story is about Dave White and his great radio show and how I hope to add value for the listeners with honest answers to questions about blogging, web 2.0, web 3.D and more.

The show is broadcast live every Saturday between 10:00 AM and Noon Eastern time. The beauty of the Internet is that any time after the live broadcast, you can listen to the show in a continuous loop 24 hours a day from anywhere in the world by following the same link:

New York Times Journalist Learns about Information Marketing on eBay

The New York Times Learns about Information Marketing on eBay

Now - How can your company Benefit from Information Marketing?

The NY Times article by David Gallagher, quoted below is an interesting tale about the sale of a public-domain information product by a information marketing niche eBay seller to a NY Times Journalist.  The story is more than "interesting" if your business is looking for ways to gain exposure, boost revenue, find new customers, or retain older customers.

Public-Domain information products are sold worldwide via eBay and on numerous niche websites. Could your business benefit from information marketing, especially if you own the rights to the information?  Information has always been a valuable commodity, the NY Times article drives home that point in a way which few may first realize.  If a small movie made in the 1950's about a small town in America, which in itself was an advertising vehicle at the time, is worth something to someone somewhere... What do you have in your files which may be worth someones cold hard cash?

What can you take from your company files and turn into a revenue producing information product? Do you have a technical manual for a widely sold and still in use product which is no longer in production?  If you have the rights to that manual you should consider digitizing it and offering it for sale in a eBay store.  Do you have a procedures or sales training manual written specifically for your company or by your company which you no longer use? Digitize and sell that information!

These Information products are sold every day by major manufacturers of appliances, electronics, machinery, automobiles etc etc... Look for an owners manual for your any of your electronics or appliances in your home and you will find them for sale, usually directly on the manufacturers website. These manuals are now being delivered electronically and some companies charge a fee for the information.  This "service" provides continual revenue for the manufacturer. The income from the sale of digitally delivered owners manuals adds up to a significant number at the end of the year.

The goal is not necessarily to make millions of dollars from old information in your files (although that could be possible, depending upon your information). The goal is to gain exposure for your company through your eBay store and to gain new customers by introducing them to your company via your expert information products. If a consumer believes in the information enough to buy it, that consumer has taken the first step towards buying another product or service from your company.

The information products you can sell are low cost advertising vehicles.  They will include more than the specific information the buyer purchases, these information products will also include your present day company message and links to your website.  There is so much to be gained by using this unique and original method of advertising and really very little to lose.  By selling outdated or public-domain information to consumers your company gains a new customer and an opportunity to sell that customer newer and better products or services.  The consumer gains knowledge previously unattainable and a confidence in your company he never had before.

Win Win!

Information products can be sold completely on auto-pilot. Technology is available which will instantly deliver the digital information product to the consumer upon payment. The only significant investment in information products is in the creation of these products. Once they are created and digitized the cost of production for digital information products is zero.  Other forms of delivery such as DVD or CD have associated costs, but those costs are minimal when compared with the benefit.

On eBay, Some Profit by Selling What’s Free

While scouring eBay for interesting Christmas presents a while back, I found and bought a DVD of a film made in 1954 about my home town of Doylestown, Pa. After it arrived I went searching for more information about it — and found the entire film, available as a free download from the nonprofit Internet Archive.
