Blog for Business – Does your company need a blog?

ABABlog Logo

As I was working on this blogs transition to our own hosting and a new wordpress theme... to: www.allbusinessauctions.com/blog ....

I started to think about all of the businesses in the world who could benefit by blogging. I came to the conclusion that there is not a single business I am familiar with which could not benefit by establishing a company blog...

Blogs are simply an amazing way to get your name and information recognized throughout the world. There are many reasons why blogs are beneficial...

  • Fastest way to get your site indexed by the search engines
  • Best way to increase your rankings in the search engines - fresh content is king
  • Gives your audience (customers) a feel for what you do and how you do it. Write your blog as though you were talking directly to your customers.
  • Quickest way to get your new information, idea, products known in the world.

If you have not really caught on to the "blogosphere" thing yet, don't think your too late because blogging is still in it's infancy and your company still has time to get in to the mix.

While our blog story here at All Business Auctions may not be typical... and I can not promise your company will have the same experience when establishing a blog... I would like to share a quick run down or the positive results we have experienced since starting this free wordpress.com blog less than 90 days ago.

  1. Learned volumes about the blogosphere and how a single post in a wordpress blog can be indexed by google in less than 12 hours.
  2. Gained recognition among like minded business owners in our field.
  3. Became known as a source of information by major news organizations. (blog post: Quoted in the New York Times technology section).
  4. Gained international business inquiries through blogging about relevant news in our field. (Inquiry about eBay Stores design work from Romania)
  5. Won a small blogging award - first place SEOLogs blog contest
  6. Broadened our company appeal by detailing just a few of the services we can provide and simply writing about the benefits of those services.
  7. With the move to our own hosting and attaching the blog to our AllBusinessAuctions.com website we will increase the exposure for our company and increase the traffic on our Joomla based website. Fresh relevant content is indexed quickly in the search engines and is the most powerful for SEO tool in the toolbox.

I could increase the list above but after only 90 days online with a "free" wordpress.com blog, I think these are significant points.

Should you look into blogging for your business? While some people blog as a business your company or small business could benefit greatly by blogging for business.

It's a whole lot less expensive than pay per click advertising, or the yellow pages and may not replace either for your business needs... But unlimited indexed content with your company name attached, could not hurt!

Top 10 New Years eBay Store Resolutions for Small Business Owners

Magic of New Years ResolutionsTis the season for New Years Resolutions

As a small business owner do you have an eBay plan for 2008?

Small business owners are bombarded by multiple ideas, emails and suggestions concerning how they should run, improve and increase business this time of year. Among these New Years Resolutions ideas is one which I consider to be the most likely to provide a return on investment for any business owner... I suggest any small business should research the viability of adding an eBay marketing plan, including the use of an eBay store, to the present marketing budget. If you have not already looked into the potential of eBay and eBay Stores, you should designate this as one of the top priorities for your company in 2008.

No matter if your business has an established eCommerce Internet website or not, adding an eBay business/marketing plan to your retail or wholesale operation is not only a revenue producing sales tool but also a promotional venue with an unlimited potential to increase your businesses bottom line and overall worldwide branding exposure and recognition. So lets make looking into eBay a primary New Years resolution for your company, here are 10 resolution ideas and the possible benefits of following our advice:

Top 10 New Years eBay Store Resolutions for Small Business Owners

  1. OPEN and eBay store and stock it with merchandise- This is the first step! Once you make this initial step, your business will be on its way towards gaining worldwide exposure for your brand and a robust and lively new customer base. All built in to the incredible and free built in SEO advantages of an eBay store. Question: Are you aware that more searches are initiated for products on eBay each day than on Google? In fact there are more searches completed each day on eBay than on Google's entire system and every search within eBay is initiated by a consumer looking for a product to buy. People search on Google for free information. Which place do you want your products found?
  2. Build up your positive feedback number- By building the eBay account feedback through purchases and the sales of your store merchandise new and exciting features of your eBay account will become available. Once your feedback rating exceeds 100 all of your fixed price and store listings will be gaining even more Internet exposure on eBay express and you will qualify for many other programs within eBay. When your sales exceed $1000.00 per month, your business will be listed as a PowerSeller. Powerseller status indicates to the consumer that you are a steady and reliable resource and that they can have confidence buying from you. Additionally, when your sales surpass $3000.00 per month, your business will qualify for a reduction in PayPal fees.

SEO and Traffic Generating Offers on eBay – Lisa Page Daily Home Business Blog.

I was reading one of my favorite business blogs this morning - Lisa Page Daily Home Business Blog.

Lisa has a post on her blog about traffic generation and how to get page rank.  While in general, I agree with the post on Lisa's blog, I do not agree, especially for eBay sellers, that having high page rank is the primary concern.  I commented on Lisa's blog post... We have installed wordpress on our own server and will be migrating this blog to a new address:

www.allbusinessauctions.wordpress.com

is moving to:

http://allbusinessauctions.com/blog

Any experiencial help or advice from our readers is encouraged and appreciated!

The two platforms are not exactly the same (wordpress.com vs wordpress.org) and we are just poking around in the .org version hoping to find our way around...

Our first challenge is locating and installing the best plug ins and widgets...

Anyone of our readers who has been down this road before is encouraged to send any advice or help they wish to offer..

Thanks in advance!

We Won! SEOLogs.com named All Business Auctions blog a Winner!

Note: Recently we signed up for a service/blogging community called mybloglog.  Our official join date was November 12th 2007.  MyblogLog is a social networking site for bloggers and it allows like minded bloggers to create groups or communities to see what other bloggers in their niche are doing/writing.

Coincidentally, MyBlogLog was running a contest during the month of November with a significant prize awarded to the blog which gained the most members to it's community during the month.

While we did not win the MyBlogLog contest by any means, we were very encouraged by our community growth in such a short time.  From November 12th to November 30th 2007 AllBusinessAuctions.Wordpress.com went from a blog rank in the thousands all the way up to a (contest) rank of 133.  No where near a win or even honorable mention, but to climb within 133 places of long time established blogs with massive communities already in place and while competing against cash prize incentives and email marketing campaigns designed to boost other blogs standings...

We thought our progress was significant - especially when you consider that we did not employ any outside techniques to gain rank. Only honest content.

While we did win first place in one of the cash prize incentive contests employed to gain rank bu SEOlogs.com and we appreciate the recognition , and the cash from the prize listed below...

In our view the climb to blog #133 in the MyBlogLog contest was a significant and gratifying result after only a little over two weeks in the community!

Thank you MyBlogLog.com members!

SEOLogs has announced our blog a winner!

Congratulations to the final 3 winners of our Contest!
