Business owners really do not have the time to learn all of the ins and outs of listing merchandise on eBay or elsewhere on the internet (although they should take the time). Hiring a Trading Assistant full time could be a good move.
In reality becoming a Trading Assistant is much more complicated than most articles you find on the Internet will indicate. eBay itself tries to make it sound easy, yet they protect themselves with an agreement which a Harvard Law professor would have a hard time deciphering.
With this additional announcement, eBay is ringing the bell that tolls a change in the way consumers will search the site. This new or revamped search engine (can you say Best Match on steroids?) will offer fixed price listings side by side with auction listings (tests leaked on this system last February). Will this new search “disadvantage” auctions so much that they become irrelevant and eventually through market pressure simply cease to exist?
It really is no surprise Zippi-Auctions sales on eBay have not been stellar. The concept may sound great to the inexperienced and the perpetual business opportunities buyers, but if one looks at the numbers and the concept, is there really any Zip here?
ConsignmentPal has not only become the best place to list your consignment or Trading Assistant business (even better than the Trading Assistant Directory in my opinion) but is now a great place to find real honest to goodness solutions providers, consultants, designers, web developers, and eBay gurus like Skip McGrath
Linda Miller of Consignment Pal has worked long and hard to provide a directory service to the consignment industry. Her efforts have been rewarded with a very efficient and usable directory for both consignment shops and eBay Trading Assistants
The eBay Trading Assistant program was re-engineered several months ago. eBay, in fact, started the recent round of controversial announcements (Fees, Feedback, DSRs tied to fee discounts, No more digital delivery, etc) with the summary and unexpected changes to the Trading Assistant system. Trading Posts had been renamed as REDOL’s (?). REDOL (Drop Stores and […]
eBay drop stores came upon the scene with a great fanfare and promise. Initially it was considered a unique and interesting proposition by both business pundits (Entrepreneur Magazine) and investors alike. The promise of the initial drop store franchise operations seemed limitless and they expanded like weeds across the land. Soon it would be difficult to pick up a newspaper or read a business magazine without seeing some reference, either advertisement or article, about the eBay drop store franchise revolution. It was an exciting time…
A great deal of turmoil has been raised recently in the eBay Trading Assistant community. Reader Please Note: This post is over 1900 words in length. I feel it is worth the time to read the entire article. If you think this post is just too long after reading the entire article please leave a […]
I found the listing below (in italics) in the “New” TA Directory this morning. I was looking at whom in my area had signed up for the new directory with an eye to see if any of my former local colleagues in the industry had joined up. If they had, I was going to stop in […]
I have been spending too much time on the eBay Trading Assistant discussion board, and admittedly I may have gotten carried away with my opinions. You may fault me, or you may respect my veracity, in any case I think it is important that the discussion from today is noted somewhere besides the eBay forum. […]
Great news! The case against Mary Jo Pletz detailed in the Trading Assistant Journal has been dropped! Mary Jo (Known by her eBay trading name JoJoDoug on the eBay discussion forums) has reported on the ebay forums that she has received a reprieve in the mail – All charges are dropped by the State of […]

Running an eBay consignment business can be complicated, time consuming, and nerve wracking… As a business, consignment selling on eBay is not the easy get rich quick scheme some would have you believe. While initially setting up an eBay consignment business may sound like a ticket to easy street… Whats better than selling other peoples […]
As Trading Assistants we see the gamut of merchadise come through our doors each day…. Usually we can evaluate the value of this merchandise in the blink of an eye, or possibly with a quick online trip to Terapeak… But when something is presented by a client… say possibly a fine piece of antique furniture, […]
In a story by: Unravel the Gavel and reported in AuctionBytes today. It is reported New Hampshire has introduced a bill in the legislature to exempt Internet sales from any auctioneer licensure requirements. This report is the best news of the week for eBay TA’s (excuse me please, REDOL’s). We can only hope this Bill […]
With the advent of the new eBay Trading Assistant (”Registered eBay Drop Off Location” or REDOL) agreement, an already complicated business outlook has just become more convoluted. eBay Trading Assistants and Drop Store owners – Franchisee or Non-Franchise… should be evaluating the new eBay Trading Assistant Agreement and determining what the implications are for the future of your business. I will refrain from interpreting […]
The recent changes in the trading assistant agreement has sparked a debate on the official eBay forums. eBay has laid down a very restrictive agreement and as a trading assistant or drop store owner, you should read it very carefully before clicking any box indicating your agreement. To be honest, eBay has instituted this new […]
QuikDrop Says Goodbye… In an article written by Ina Steiner of AuctionBytes.com this morning, it is reported that QuikDrop, one of America’s largest drop off eBay store franchises, is closing up franchise sales and support operations by the end of this month. The current franchisees (store owners) are free to continue store operations but will […]
In our previous post we reviewed Trading Assistants & franchise eBay drop store marketing ideas and I promised to detail how and why every Trading Assistant or drop store owner should have an eBay Stores account. It always amazes me when I consult with franchise owners who are struggling to find that they have not […]
Is eBay really a place to get rich quick? eBay loves to promote stories of sellers who have made it big on eBay. The entire idea seems to be one of getting home based businesses and micro entrepreneurs excited about joinging the eBay family of sellers. Many solutions providers have geared offerings to focus on […]
